Gio Swaby is a textile artist from the Bahamas who currently lives and works in Toronto, Ontario. Her colorful textile portraits celebrate black women and represent their beauty in the most glorious way. The exhibition and marketing campaign design for her 2023 solo show Fresh Up at the Art Institute of Chicago is based on a vibrant color palette and elegant typography. These design elements were brought together to celebrate a special moment in art history and create a unique, high-femme atmosphere.
